Parish Church of Sankt-Ludwig (St Louis)Boßlet's Masterpiece with a real Queen of InstrumentsAn impressive assymetrical double tower facade of red sandstone pillars, scattered with red clinker, is the landmark of the catholic parish church of Saint Louis in the Wormser Strasse.
The senior government building officer Boßlet was particularly active in the regions of the Palatinate and Bavaria (the Palatinate was Bavarian, too, until the end of the Second World War) and in Baden too. However, churches designed by him were also built in Hessen and North Rhine-Westphalia, and even in Brazil there is Itaporanga, a complete monastery which was designed by this remarkable master architect of church buildings. Particularly worth mentioning are the paintings on the life of the church’s patron saint King Louis IX which hang on the walls of the sanctuary and were designed by the artist Martin Adam Foeller from Frankenthal. Even more impressive is the big Kuhn-Organ with its 44 registers and the so-called Spanish trumpets, making a church concert become an unforgettable experience.
