Colombes, Hauts-de-Seine, is located in the Paris conurbation and has about 80 000 inhabitants in an area of only 795 hectares. All through the year 2008 and at the beginning of the year 2009 the fiftieth jubilee of partnership was celebrated with numerous events in both towns.
The Brandenburg town Strausberg is located east of Berlin and has approx. 26 000 inhabitants. Strausberg is situated in the midst of a densely wooded nature reserve with many lakes.
Official meetings took place already at the beginning of the year 1990. The town of Sopot is located at the Bay of Gdansk between the two large seaports and industrial centres of Gdynia and Gdansk, forming together the “Three towns” with altogether approx. 800 000 inhabitants. Sopot itself has approx. 40 000 inhabitants. The town with the longest wooden mole of Europe has developed into a fashionable seaside resort on the Baltic Sea, which numerous international tourists enjoy visiting, too.
