Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region
The Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region – The region of short distances
A strong economy, excellent science and diverse cultural and leisure opportunities. Side by side, spread over the three federal states of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Hesse und Rhineland-Palatinate. This is the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region. Located in the south-west of Germany, the region is home to 2.4 million people. Its distinguishing characteristic is a polycentric spatial structure with three big cities and over 30 thriving medium-sized centres, among them Frankenthal.
“Short distances, maximum possibilities” – that’s the gist of the regional development work. A public-private partnership model, the very first of its kind in Germany, has formed the basis for an effective co-operation between the worlds of business, science, politics and public administration. A large number of regional partners are working together to realise the “Vision 2025”. By then, the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region aims to become known an acknowledged as one of the most attractive and competitive regions in Europe.
